Sarah Subrémon appointed deputy head of the Legal service

Anne Yvrande-Billon has been appointed Deputy Head of the Mergers Unit as of July 1st. Under the authority of Simon Genevaz, Head of the Mergers Unit, she will coordinate, alongside Gwenaëlle Nouët, the case officers teams dedicated to merger examinations.

Anne Yvrande-Billon holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, where she has been Associate Professor during five years. As an academic, her research focused on the liberalization of network industries, especially railways. Then, between 2008 and 2011, she worked at the French Council of Economic Analysis, an independent advisory body reporting to the Prime minister. For the past three years, she has been working as an economist and case officer at the Chief Economist’s team of the Autorité de la concurrence, where she has investigated numerous cases involving disputes or merger control.

Sarah Subrémon has been appointed Deputy Head of the Legal Service. Under the supervision of Henri Génin, Head of the Legal Service, she will manage the legal team made of Legal Advisers and “Référendaires” of the Autorité de la concurrence.

Sarah Subrémon has a DESS degree in European business law and has been a visiting student at King’s College London (Master of Laws, specialising in competition law). She also holds a CAPA Professional Lawyer’s Certificate. After starting her career as a lawyer, she joined the European Commission in 2004 as Advisor to the Hearing Officers. In 2007, she joined the Autorité de la concurrence as Adviser for Institutional and European Affairs in the staff of the President, before being appointed rapporteur in 2009. In June, 2013, she joined the Competition Commission in London as Legal Adviser before becoming Assistant Legal Director of the Competition and Market Authority in April 2014.
