Savinien Grignon Dumoulin is appointed Hearing Adviser to the Autorité de la concurrence.

  Savinien Grignon Dumoulin, a judge, has been appointed Hearing Adviser to the Autorité de la concurrence from 1 February 2014 by an order of the Minister for the Economy and Finance of 6 March 2014 (published in the Official Journal of the French Republic on 14 March 2014).

He takes over from Henri Génin, who had previously held the position since August 2011 and who has been appointed head of the legal service of the Autorité de la concurrence.


Savinien Grignon Dumoulin holds a master’s degree in private law (1980) and is a graduate of the Institut d’études politiques in Bordeaux (1981). After graduating from the Ecole Nationale de la Magistrature (French National School for the Judiciary) in 1984, he served as a trial judge in Roubaix between 1986 and 1988. From 1988 to 1990, he was a drafter to the Office of Nationality at the Civil Affairs and Seals Directorate of the Ministry of Justice, and was then the Chief of the Office from 1990 to 1997. A Case Officer at the Conseil de la concurrence from 1997 to 2001, he then served as a judge at the 2nd Civil Law Chamber of the French Court of Cassation (Cour de cassation) from 2001 to 2011. He is currently the first assistant Vice-President of the General court of first instance of Paris.

The Hearing Adviser, a position which was created by the law on the modernisation of the economy on 4 August 2008, is a procedural mediator who is available to assist companies which are either implicated or complainant, in order to prevent or defuse any problems involving the exercise of their rights throughout the inter partes proceedings related to the investigation of anticompetitive practices (more information on the role of the Hearing Adviser).
