By decree of the President of the French Republic of 20 January 2022, published on 21 January in the Official Journal of the French Republic, Benoît Cœuré is appointed President of the Autorité de la concurrence after having been heard by the National Assembly and the Senate’s chambers in charge of economic affairs, which approved his candidacy.

First statement by Benoît Cœuré: "I am convinced that competition policy is a powerful lever at the service of the purchasing power and competitiveness of our companies and I wanted to tell you how honoured and enthusiastic I am to lead this great institution which will have to meet many challenges in the coming years and fully play its role in the service of the French economy.”

He succeeds Isabelle de Silva, who joined the French Administrative Supreme Court (Conseil d’Etat) as Deputy President of the Social Section, after a 5-year term.

The college and all of the Autorité's agents unite to express her their gratitude and salute the immense work she accomplished in the service of the institution as well as the profound reforms she has initiated under her mandate.

The Autorité would also like to express its sincere thanks to Vice-President Emmanuel Combe, who acted as President between mid-October 2021 and today.
