Betrrand Rohmer has been appointed Chief of Staff of the President of the Autorité and its European and international affairs as of Monday 26 April 2021. He was previously advisor for institutional and European affairs in the office of the President of the Autorité. He succeeds Mathias Pigeat who was appointed Head of the Legal Department of the Autorité.

 

Biography


A graduate of the Institut d'Etudes Politiques of Strasbourg, Bertrand Rohmer also holds a double degree in European economic law from the Institut d'Etudes Politiques of Paris and the University of Strasbourg as well as an LLM from College of Europe in Bruges.

After obtaining his Professional Lawyer's Certificate (CAPA), Bertrand Rohmer began a career as a lawyer by joining the economic and European law department of the firm Gide Loyrette Nouel in 2013. In 2017, he joined the Autorité de la concurrence as rapporteur where he investigated anticompetitive practices case files (agreements and abuses) and requests for opinions from the Ministry of the Economy.

Since November 2019, he has been adviser for institutional and European affairs in the office of the President of the Autorité. In this position, he notably ensured the follow-up of the Autorité's participation in the European Competition Network (REC), the discussion of the DDADUE law adopted on 3 December 2020 as well as the normative work in progress at European level (revision of the block exemption regulation applicable to vertical agreements and of the notice on relevant markets). He also participated in the Autorité’s discussions relating to the digital sector, in particular with regard to the Digital Markets Act.
