Joël Tozzi has been appointed deputy General Rapporteur of the Autorité de la Concurrence

Joël Tozzi has been appointed deputy General Rapporteur upon a decision of General Rapporteur, Virginie Beaumeunier. He will head Antitrust Unit 3 and will replace Etienne Pfister, who is now Chief Economist of the Autorité de la Concurrence.

A Graduate of the Institut d’études politiques de Strasbourg (Strasbourg institute of political studies) (1985) and former student of the Institut régional d’administration de Bastia (IRA – Bastia Regional Administration Institute) (1987-1988), Joël Tozzi held various positions in the Ministry of the Interior up to 1992. As a senior civil servant, he subsequently joined the Ministry for the Economy. Joël Tozzi was Deputy Bureau Chief for International Law at the Legal Affairs Department between 2003 and 2005. In 2006, he was appointed Head of the Restrictive Practices Department of the General Directorate for Competition, Consumer Affairs and Fraud Control (DGCCRF). Between 2008 and 2010, he acted as assistant to the Deputy Director of Housing in the Town-Planning Department of the Ministry of Ecology, before becoming Technical Advisor to the Secretary of State for Consumer Affairs in 2010. Since September 2010, Joël Tozzi has been assistant to the Deputy Director of Food Products and Bureau Chief of the Plant-based Food Products and Drinks Markets at the DGCCRF.

Joël Tozzi will take up his position on 1 November.
