The Autorité de la concurrence will examine the creation of a joint venture by Glon Sanders (subsidiary of Sofiprotéol) and the Euralis cooperative group
At the request of the undertakings, the European Commission has just referred to the Autorité de la concurrence the examination of the creation of a joint venture by Glon Sanders Holding and the Euralis group.

Glon Sanders Holding, a subsidiary of the Sofiprotéol group, operates in the sector of animal nutrition, the production and marketing of live animals and the slaughtering and processing of pork and poultry meat, eggs and egg products. The Euralis group is a cooperative group in the South-West of France and operates particularly in the sectors of animal nutrition and poultry meat processing.

These two groups are creating a joint venture in the South-West of France, aimed at bringing together part of their activities in the sectors of manufacturing and sale of complete feed for animals and the production and marketing of live animals for slaughter.

As provided by European texts, the undertakings have asked that the operation be referred to the Autorité de la concurrence. They told the European Commission that the planned operation essentially related to local agricultural markets in France and that consequently, the Autorité de la concurrence was best placed to examine the matter.

In its decision of 27 May 2013, the European Commission confirmed that the referral was justified, particularly in view of the Autorité’s experience of the analysis of the sectors concerned, and agreed to refer the case to it. Glon Sanders Holding and the Euralis group must therefore now formally notify their intentions to the Autorité de la concurrence.
