“Economics and Sustainability” Workshop – Programme and registration
The Autorité de la concurrence has published the programme for its “Economics and Sustainability” workshop, to be held in Paris on Monday, 5 October 2026. Academics, practitioners and representatives of public institutions will discuss methods for valuing environmental benefits and harms and their application to competition analysis.
How can sustainability considerations be incorporated into competition analysis? What tools can be used to assess the environmental effects of business practices and mergers? The workshop will bring together the experience of competition authorities, the methodologies used by practitioners and insights from academic research.
The workshop will open with remarks by Benoît Cœuré, followed by three panel discussions:
- Incorporating sustainability into competition analysis: rationale, challenges and limitations
- Valuation in practice: case studies and applied methodologies
- Environmental valuation methods: an academic perspective
Participants will include representatives from the Dutch, Japanese and Australian competition authorities, alongside practitioners and academics. Umberto Berkani will deliver the closing remarks.
The discussions will be held in English.
