Walid Chaiehloudj is appointed Board member of the Autorité de la concurrence as qualified professional in charge of missions related to regulated professions

By a presidential decree of 6 March 2023, Walid Chaiehloudj is appointed Board member of the Autorité de la concurrence as qualified professional in charge of the specific missions related to the freedom of establishment for notaries, commissioners of justice, and lawyers at the French Administrative Supreme Court (Conseil d’État) and Supreme Court (Cour de cassation).

Mr Chaiehloudj succeeds Jean-Louis Gallet, whom the Authority thanks for his contribution.

Missions assigned to members deliberating on issues related to regulated professions

Pursuant to the law, when the Autorité deliberates on issues related to the establishment of notaries, commissioners of justice, and lawyers at the Administrative Supreme Court and Supreme Court, “its Board shall include two qualified professionals appointed by decree for a non-renewable three-year term” (Articles L. 462-4-1 and L. 462-4-2 of the French Commercial Code).

The next deliberations of the Board related to these missions will take place by the end of 2023. At the end of last year and at the beginning of this year, the Autorité launched public consultations with a view to preparing opinions on the freedom of establishment of notaries, commissioners of justice, and lawyers at the French Administrative Supreme Court and Supreme Court.

Background

Walid Chaiehloudj holds a PhD in Private Law and Criminal Science from the University of Aix-Marseille and is an associate professor of law. Since last year, Mr Chaiehloudj is a university lecturer and the co-director of the University of Perpignan’s Economics Law and Development Centre. He was previously a lecturer at the University of Grenoble (2018-2020), as well as the Deputy Director of the Law, Economics and Management department and a lecturer at the University of New Caledonia (2020-2022). An expert in competition law, he is the author of many articles and books on the subject and co-founded the Competition Forum website.

Walid Chaiehloudj is also a non-permanent member of New Caledonia’s Competition Authority since 18 August 2020.
