Anne Wachsmann Guigon has been appointed Vice-President of the Autorité de la concurrence by decree of the President of the French Republic, replacing Irène Luc who has joined the French Supreme Court (Cour de cassation) as First Advocate General. Anne Wachsmann Guigon will take office as from 6 June 2025.

Biography

A graduate of the Faculty of Law at the University of Strasbourg, where she finished top of her graduating class, and the College of Europe in Bruges, where she was an academic assistant in the Legal Studies Department, Anne Wachsmann Guigon, a French lawyer (avocate à la cour), is specialised in competition law. Equity Partner at Linklaters since 2001, she has been involved in a number of landmark cases, under both French and European competition law, and in the restructuring of certain sectors.

With a keen interest in promoting competition law, Anne Wachsmann Guigon served for many years as a Non-Governmental Advisor (NGA) for the Autorité de la concurrence within the International Competition Network (ICN) and has taught European merger control at the College of Europe since 2017. She also sits on the steering committees for the Nasse Seminar organised by the French Treasury and the Matinales workshops organised by the Directorate General for Competition Policy, Consumer Affairs and Fraud Control (DGCCRF).

Anne Wachsmann Guigon is very active in the arts and has chaired the Centre européen d’actions artistiques contemporaines (CEAAC) in Strasbourg since 2020 and, on the recommendation of the French government, the Board of Directors of the Palais de Tokyo since summer 2024.

Given her current activities, exclusions will apply as regards the cases on which Anne Wachsmann Guigon can sit, under the supervision of the High Authority for Transparency in Public Life (Haute Autorité pour la transparence de la vie publique – HATVP). In addition, she will take office as from 6 June 2025.
